I use to really want to go to SXSW but now with the crush of people and hotels sold out 3 months in advanced… I have zero interest.

This tweet by Carl Hancock got me thinking.

Being “cool” has a life cycle. Whether you are talking about a Vegas club, social networking website (MySpace anyone?), or the Perissa Beach bar “Fushion” — virtually nothing stays “cool” forever.

Apple has managed to stay cool for more than a decade, but that’s an extremely rare feat these days with the speed at which (bad and good) information flows via Twitter and Facebook.

The tweet I referenced indicates South by Southwest seems to have reached the point of being too big and well known to be “cool” anymore…

How do you keep your “cool” cycle as long as possible? And what length of time is considered long these days? 2 years? 5 years?
