This is ridiculous — Mark Cuban is asking whether Dwyane Wade is a leader?? Are you kidding me? And before giving my response, I wanted to mention that I was fully planning on leaving a comment on his blog only to find that Cuban turned comments off of this specific post (see screen shot below that shows no option to comment).
So, Cuban has forced me to say my opinion here rather than in the comments of his blog. This is the quote in the paper that caused Cuban to post:
‘At the end of the day,” Wade said, “you’re remembered for what you did at the end. . . . I think that’s the reason — Dirk says they gave us the championship last year, but he’s the reason they lost the championship, because he wasn’t the leader that he’s supposed to be in the closing moments. That’s because of great defense by us, but also he wasn’t assertive enough as a leader’s supposed to be.’
My take on the situation is that it’s a load of ABSOLUTE SH*T. Dwyane Wade DOMINATED the Mavericks in the finals (especially in Game 3 when the Heat faced a 13 point deficit in the 4th). I watched every game and was utterly amazed at Wade’s abilities. I’m not kidding – I was close to putting him in a category with Michael Jordan after seeing the way he almost single-handedly destroyed the Mavs. Wade’s stats during the 6 games:
- Game 1 – 28 pts/6 rebs/6 asts
- Game 2 – 23 pts/8 rebs/3 asts
- Game 3 – 42 pts/13 rebs/2 asts
- Game 4 – 36 pts/6 rebs/3 asts
- Game 5 – 43 pts/4 rebs/4 asts
- Game 6 – 36 pts/10 rebs/5 asts
Face it Cuban — the Mavericks lost and Dirk should just give the Heat credit for beating them fair and square. No matter what anyone says, it IS about the ending — and Mavs failed to come through in the clutch. As the team leader, Dirk needs to take a large chunk of that blame.
I’ll be honest — Cuban’s blog is one of my favorite blogs to read because it is so opinionated. But — Cuban — PLEASE turn your damn comments back on so your readers can respond to your ridiculous question (I’m guessing you realized your mistake and turned off comments so you wouldn’t get reemed).
