As shitty as it sounds saying, not everyone is worth spending your time with. One of my good friends and I were talking about this on the 15 hour drive back to Seattle from Tahoe last week.
Don’t try to make everyone happy. It’s a losing equation that’ll result in frustration and unnecessary drama in your life. Focus your time on the people that matter. The people who share your passions and values. The people who will be there through thick and thin. The people whose company you miss 10 minutes after you see them.
Honesty is a valuable feedback mechanism. Unfortunately, most people don’t have the balls to be honest with themselves. You can choose who you spend your time with. Choose wisely.
I didn’t figure this out until I was 25 or 26. How old were you when you figured it out (if you have already)?
